Mother of Mercy Hospital was founded by Bishop Gassis as a referral medical facility with 80 beds for inpatient care.  There are currently over 400 beds  Funding for construction was generously donated by Walter Giavazzi and Angelo Fracassi, both from Milan, Italy.
